Zoë Pawlak (b. 1982) is a Montreal-based artist whose work employs emotive color to extend the sky and the land, creating expansive spaces for contemplation.
Her work at Gotham West reflect recent landscapes from 2017 through 2018, continuing a decade-long focus in color and brushwork. These landscapes act as a place for calm consideration of collective consciousness that tie us to the land.
Pawlak's works continue to focus on shifting qualities of light, confusing and compressing other notions of scale, time, and location to produce works that evoke landscape rather than report it.
