Bellwether, the City of Bellevue's annual art festival, returns late summer for its 14th edition—curated this year by Seattle-based art and architecture collaborative, SuttonBeresCuller. For their first project in Bellevue, SuttonBeresCuller is reinventing the experience of Bellwether, centering the experience on the Bellevue Arts Museum as the hub for arts activity, with other major sites including Compass Plaza and the Downtown Park. In addition to hosting a pop-up exhibition of young and emerging Northwest artists on the Museum’s second floor and public Forum during the month of September, BAM will also host a series of events and performances over the two weeks of Bellwether that will activate the Museum’s extraordinary architecture as a vital part of Bellevue’s cultural landscape.

SuttonBeresCuller is a group of three Seattle based artists—John Sutton, Ben Beres, and Zac Culler—who have worked collaboratively since 2000, developing art, architecture and urban projects across the Northwest. The trio’s work ranges in presentation from gallery works, to installation, performance, and public projects. Working in and outside of traditional gallery settings, they aim to engage and provoke unsuspecting audiences with their works, which are often not what they seem.

This project is presented by the City of Bellevue and in close collaboration and partnership with the Bellevue Arts Museum.
