Nina Katchadourian: Curiouser will open at the Art After Dark event at 7 PM on Friday, March 2.

Nina Katchadourian’s work reveals the creative potential that, in her words, “lurks within the mundane.” Her art underscores the remarkable freedom and productivity that can come from working within self-imposed limitations. Although the subjects she explores and the media she uses are wide-ranging, lines of connection—sometimes even literal ones made of red thread—recur throughout this exhibition.

Kathadourian’s expansive practice plays out largely beyond her Brooklyn studio. She has made art in libraries, on airplanes, in forests and parking lots. Enlisting help from both far afield and close to home, Katchadourian has collaborated with sportscasters, zookeepers, museum maintenance staff, United Nations translators, an accent elimination coach, various animals and insects, and her own parents. With ingenuity, insight, and humor, her art invigorates our ability to see our everyday surroundings as a site of possibility.
