Magnum Photos and British Journal of Photography are proud to announce the next Professional Practice workshop in our series “Personal Projects – How to develop and finance stories that matter to you”.
Learn how to tell a personal story to engage your audience, how to research your ideas and become an expert in your field, how to fund personal projects, and how to disseminate/distribute your completed project.
Speakers include: Antoine d’Agata (Magnum Photographer), Nicola Shipley (Director, Grain Projects), Fiona Rogers (Global Director Business Development, Magnum Photos, Founder, Firecracker), Harry Hardie (Founder, Herepress, Lecturer, London College of Communication and Westminster University).
This two-day photographic masterclass offers participants the chance to learn from Magnum photographers as well as a diverse mix of industry leaders. Each workshop focuses on demystifying an aspect of the industry, establishing a professional network of contacts, understanding the requirements of the market and identifying realistic routes into photographic employment. This unique programme offers highly valuable training opportunities for early & mid-career photographers.
The first day focuses on lectures from speakers about their specific area of expertise, giving behind the scenes tips and practical advice on how to survive and thrive in a highly competitive landscape. A second day of portfolio reviews with speakers will provide photographers with an honest and constructive critique of existing work. An informal drinks reception is optional on both days to allow for further networking.
