Uprise Art presents an exhibition of recent paintings by Amsterdam-based painter Daniel Mullen.
In a departure from Mullen’s architecturally-inspired abstraction, these bold works were created in collaboration with his wife Lucy Engelman and explore her spatial-temporal synesthesia.
Each painting is a unique record of how she perceives a different passage of years as a spatial arrangement of sequential colors and shapes. Embedded in the ground of Mullen’s paintings, time is cast as a static environment seemingly viewed from above, below, and within.
