The annual exhibition showcases the outstanding art graduates of 2017, selected from across the country by Mall Galleries' curatorial team. The exhibition will be an exciting mix of degree show and newly made painting, sculpture and original prints, all exploring contemporary figuration and ideas of representation. With figurative art seeing a resurgence in recent years, it is a moment to think about where the future of figurative work lies.
FBA Futures maps new practices from British Art Schools, inviting audiences to discover emerging talent and experience new work. The exhibition includes work not just from mainstream art schools but equally from atelier models (Heatherley’s and LARA) and alternative postgraduate programmes (Open School East and Turps Banana).
FBA Futures alumni have gone on to be selected for the BP Portrait Award, New Contemporaries and the Griffin Art Prize Residency among other successes. With further support from our sponsors Minerva, this year the exhibition will be its largest so far, featuring over 40 artists.
