On view in the project room will be the work of Three Sculptors. All are recent three-dimensional works presented on both the wall and pedestal.
Works by Markus Baenziger’s integrate the artist’s love of nature with a vision of a gritty, imperfect, and industrialized world. A perception constructed with a mastery of design and an exacting attention to detail. In Matthew Blackwell’s inspired vision of America, he works within a variety of methods. An insight raw and spontaneous, and often analytical, but always delivered with driving authority and a touch of absurdity.
Billy Copley’s non-functioning “bags” are a perceptively crafted comment on function, desire and the transience of society. These objects are structured from heavy watercolor paper then collaged with strips of hand painted Japanese mulberry papers for a highly colorful finish.
