Purdy Hicks Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new Forest photographs by Finnish artist Santeri Tuori.
The Forest works in this exhibition are photographed on a small remote island between Finland and Sweden, where Tuori has been photographing and filming for eleven years. 'I have photographed the same landscape and even the same trees numerous times over the years. This vast archive of images is the bases for this exhibition. The works consist of many images layered on top of each other. Different times, even years are combined in a singular work.'
There is no decisive moment. The time of a photograph doesn´t exist in the way we normally perceive it. Time takes on a different form. It is not linear, it is not round, it is hard to even be point out where and what it is. Time just is.
