Olivia Kaiser, b. 1983, lives and works in Vienna. From 2002, she studied with C.L. Attersee and Johanna Kandl at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, and in 2006/7 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.
In her paintings, Olivia Kaiser is interested in the historical connections and backgrounds within the avant garde movements of European Modernism. In this way her wildly sketched formal aspects, techniques, perspectives and manoeuvres in oil on card and canvas, as well as pencil sketches, serve as a foundation for her direct confrontation and raw reconsiderations.
Political and aesthetic issues as well as threats of narration and subjectivity mark the focus of her painterly work.
