Immerse in the luxurious landscapes of the Captiva Peninsula in Florida, Marìa Magdalena Campos-Pons renders a meditative new body of works that capture the weather changes and the environmental dynamics of the area in a time that engages us in a contemplation of current conversations of extreme weather, a reminding of the fragility of the planet and the daily accumulations of human and nature loss.
All the works were produced during the Summer of 2016 at the Robert Rauschenberg Residency in Florida.
The project continues Campos-Pons’ investigation of sensuality rendering of surfaces juxtaposition of sites and cultural references. Captiva is the most active region for electrical storms in the US thunder lights are in abundance and the skies offer daily spectacle of light and poetry.
