Galerie Dumonteil (Shanghai) is pleased to present the solo exhibition “Phosphene” by the young Chinese artist Nisky Yu (born in Shanghai, 1989). It will be his 4th solo exhibition after the previous ones in Shanghai in 2013, New York in 2014 and Paris in 2017. This exhibition will present a series of new works created between 2014-2017.
From Futurism to African primitive art, Persian miniature and Chinese Shanshui, the work of Nisky fuses a variety of motifs and sources from eastern and western culture. It is the amazing diversity of his knowledge, where East and West cleverly intertwine, that allows Nisky to be an exceptional painter.
He attains the mastery of his own language with complex structure and a touch of chaos which in fact is fully in control by the artist. Influenced by Avent-garde musics from Germany in recent years, Nisky has developed a new artistic concept — “Metacollage”. This exhibition will be fully dedicated to the complete and deep exploration of the new concept.
