Robilant + Voena of London, Milan and St. Moritz is pleased to announce their next exhibition in London: Splendour and Magnificence: Art from the European Courts. Running in conjunction with the inaugural London Art Week Winter, this exhibition provides the opportunity to view and acquire outstanding European paintings, sculpture and furniture. The common attribute which links these masterpieces is the esteem of their previous owners, who hailed from aristocratic families in Britain and the Continent.

Comprising of 25 superb examples of Old Master paintings, sculpture and decorative arts, many of the works on display in Splendour and Magnificence: Art from the European Courts were created for the most celebrated patrons of the past including the Borghese family, the Duke of Medinaceli, Cardinal Flavio Chigi, King Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy, Madame Louise-Elizabeth, Madame Infante, Duchess of Parma and daughter of Louis XV and Caroline Murat, sister of Napoleon. Finally, there are portraits of the great collectors themselves including Francesco I de’Medici, Guiliano II Cesarini, and Caroline Murat, Queen of the Kingdom of Naples and the Two Sicilies.

The works in this exhibition are united by their refinement, rarity, masterful execution, and beauty and that they are by some of the greatest artists of all time, including Sir Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641), Antonio Canova (1757-1822) and Franz Xaver Winterhalter (1805-1873); and by master craftsmen such as Nicolas Quinibert Foliot (1706-1776), Giovanni Battista Galletti (1735 - 1819).

This exhibition is a celebration of timeless beauty and a demonstration of the extraordinary quality and illustrious provenances that have motivated and inspired great collectors throughout the centuries.
