Rafael Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of recent works by Spanish-born artist Beatriz Elorza. “Blooming Emotions,” curated by Susan Nelly, opens Tuesday, October 3, with a private reception for the artist from 6-8 pm.

"Blooming Emotions" invites viewers to compare and contemplate two groups of the artist’s recent paintings, one created in NYC, and the subsequent series in London. Elorza’s larger than life works present a wonderful conundrum, walking a tightrope between abstract and representational art, with the latter serving as a point of entry, inviting us to a deeper exploration of the emotional content.

Beatriz Elorza has had solo exhibitions in New York City, London, Madrid and her hometown of Santander, Spain. Her paintings have appeared in numerous group exhibitions in Spain, Russia, London, Tokyo and New York, including at The Royal Academy of Arts (London), the Wells Museum (Somerset, UK) and the Tsvetaev Museum, Moscow, where her work is in the permanent collection. After studying architecture in Turin and Madrid, Elorza received instruction for five years from Spanish artist Leticia Ortiz de Urbina. Continuing in this direction, from 2011 to 2013 she studied with Frank O’Cain, Bruce Dorfman and Charles Hinman at The Art Students League in New York City, where she received a Merit Scholarship as a Teaching Assistant. Beatriz Elorza lives and works in London. This is her first exhibition with Rafael Gallery.

Founded in 1948, Rafael Gallery has been passed down from father to son for three generations. Beginning in 1978, under the leadership of Mr. Rafael Aryeh, the Gallery began building its collection of 16th through 20th Century European and American art, without ceasing to expand and improve its selection of antique carpets. Currently under the leadership of Mr. Benjamin Aryeh, the gallery has expanded to three locations in Midtown Manhattan, housing works of art ranging from Old Master, to Modern and Contemporary, as well as rare antique rugs. Mr. Benjamin Aryeh has also begun building the Gallery's collection of Native American art and artifacts. Clients include major public, private and corporate collections as well as the design community in New York City and across the globe.
