This exhibition presents the heart of the collections of the GrazMuseum: the large model of the Schloßberg by Anton Sigl. It shows the state of the fortifications before they were destroyed and can thus be interpreted as a backward-looking utopia today.
After the slighting of the Schloßberg fortress ordered by Napoleon forward-facing dreaming set in beside mourning about what had been lost.
Thus Sigl’s model is confronted with various utopian projects in the exhibition “Schloßberg Utopias”, which have been conceived as redesigns of the former fortress hill from the early nineteenth century down to the present day.
