John Howard and Jason Lilley are united not just by their love of Cornwall. They share an enthusiasm for the panoramas, reflections and textures of both our man-made and natural worlds.

While Jason Lilley extends his drawn borders and paints beyond the drawn line thereby presenting the viewer with an individual yet characteristic interpretation of the familiar roofs, streets and coastline around St Ives.

John Howard’s work is precise and masterly at achieving colour through white line engraving giving his work a theatrical atmosphere. His meticulous engravings and drawings are exceptionally accomplished narratives of rock studies, woods, caves or industrial buildings.

These two artists love Cornwall and love exhibiting in Highgate, where, since their last show they made many friends and fans.

Born July 1958 in Birmingham, John worked in industry in the Midlands for ten years before studying at University of Central England. He graduated in 1989 with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art. John was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) in 1995 and a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) in 1996. He moved to Cornwall in August 1995.

Jason Lilley was born and educated in Cornwall, eventually attending Falmouth School of Art and Design, to study Fine Art. His intense curiosity of Cornwall’s physical, political and spiritual condition reveals his great passion for his county. Jason is an active member of the St Ives art & Penwith community. This will be Jason’s third visit to London (ever!)
