Chiacos’ studio is located in Northern California, a natural environment which informs the organic shapes of her vessels.

The vessels are constructed upside down after the slabs are rolled out onto the concrete studio floor. The “Storm Cloud” series references the diurnal sky, featuring white porcelain slip embedded into black porcelain.

The “Galaxy” series references the nocturnal sky, featuring white porcelain dust scattered onto black porcelain, mimicking the cosmos. Chiacos received her MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and relates her Greek heritage to her interest in continuing the ancient tradition of ceramics.
