Cordesa Fine Art is pleased to present, Dead Evidence featuring Kevin Earl Taylor. This collection of paintings examines the disparate elements which draw the boundaries between natural and synthetic environments.
Dead evidence depicts scenarios which Taylor has experienced and has come in close contact with while working as an art preparator. All paintings present visions of artifacts which were created by his true vision and his alter-egos. Taylor found amusement and symbolism through the appropriation of various works of art ultimately setting them as a backdrop within his own paintings.
The exhibition title is loosely adapted from Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel’s photo series “Evidence”. Fittingly, two of the photos from the series are seen mid-installation within the painting “Dead Evidence”; a painting which reminds the viewer that even as man’s hurried march toward technological advancement accelerates, our mortality grounds us. We are first and foremost governed by natural law and therefore will surely expire regardless of our expanding intellect and ability.
Kevin Earl Taylor is a native from Charleston, South Carolina and now lives and works in San Francisco, California. In 1995 he received a B.F.A. from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Taylor’s work has been exhibited and published throughout the United States, as well as internationally.
