Tambaran Gallery, in collaboration with James Trotta-Bono, present an exhibition of works by Internationally acclaimed visual artist Damián Siqueiros.
This is the first of numerous exhibitions planned with exciting Mexican artists, in all mediums. Damián spent his formative years in Mexico before moving to Montreal, Canada. Over the past seven years Damián has served as the distinguished photographer for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
Damián is a self-proclaimed “artivist". His purpose is to create art while simultaneously championing important social and global causes. His beautiful and dramatic style expresses a colorful vision, combining the exuberance of stylized movement with a profound technical understanding of his craft. As an “artivist" Damián is an avid defender of gender equality. The work on display at Tambaran Gallery reveals this fusion of purpose and art in a most masterful way.
The creation of his images bring about a multidisciplinary practice: Damián becomes a make-up artist, stage designer, director, photographer and digital artist. These elements combine in a cohesive manner. Damián is a beauty seeker, the kind that often hides from the eyes, one that embraces and enhances the transformative power of art. He is a seeker of beauty because, as Dostoyevsky said, "beauty will save the world" and Damian plans to do so one image at a time.
Damián Siqueiros's works are in many important private collections as well as the collections of the The Museum of Latin American Art (Los Angeles), the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts, the University of Monterrey Museum, the Art Museum of the Americas (Washington D.C.) and the Til Kleinstück Collection (Germany).
Damián is currently exhibiting at gallery Youn in Montreal and at the gender diversity cultural festival of Cuernavaca, Mexico.
