In the course of his long career, architect, sculptor and designer Gaetano Pesce has experimented to extraordinary effect with the manifold possibilities of working in any material.
His particular passion for glassmaking has even led him to invent a technique of his own which can produce highly original results. In his unabated research into original formal and functional solutions, Pesce has experimented with a whole range of techniques, such as those on display in the exhibition space of the ex-Conterie. Alongside these extraordinarily precious glassworks are others created using the techniques of Pastis, Joliette, Vieux Port, Pâte de Verre and Plage, traditional methods that Pesce has adopted and reworked in a contemporary key.
The investigative spirit of the exhibition and its desire to narrate a major creative phase in Pesce’s work focuses extensively on his expressive language, showing how in shaping glass he is able to optimally combine his exceptional sense of form with the volatility of this extraordinary material, producing unexpected and playful results.
