Style icon, setter of technological benchmarks, elegance personified: Ferrari has been all of this and more in the course of its 70-year history. It was inevitable therefore that, over the decades, it would form a very special bond with individuals - from the worlds of entertainment, culture and finance – that shared the same values.
While Ferrari is notoriously discreet, never making the names of its clients public, some have been so enthralled by the Prancing Horse cars that they have become unofficial ambassadors for the marque by appearing very proudly at the wheels of their Ferraris in public. Many actors and musicians are famously dedicated to the Maranello cars, just as there are others that may only have driven a Ferrari on set but have become inextricably linked with the marque because the scenes themselves become lodged in the collective imagination.
“Driving with the Stars” is an exhibition that takes visitors on a tour of moments at which the lives of extraordinary people crossed paths with the equally extraordinary Ferrari story, resulting, in some cases, in a lifelong love affair and, in others, a relationship that lasted only as long as the cameras rolled. A tour that also takes in the glittering events and centres of power frequented by the members of the star system and international jet set. Always and ever at the wheel of their Ferraris, of course.
The cars featured in the exhibition include the first Ferrari ever displayed at a motor show, the 166 MM, as well as models that have belonged to royal families. Not forgetting, of course, the exclusive LaFerrari Aperta, the Prancing Horse icon par excellence and a sublime encapsulation of the core values of passion, technological innovation and flawless design that have made Ferraris head-turners throughout the company’s 70-year history.
