Jann Haworth presents her current, collaborative artwork Work in Progress at the BYU Museum of Art.
Work in Progress is a collage-style mural comprised of over 100 portraits of women. The large-scale work, created in 9 panels spanning nearly 40 feet in length, features portraits of over one hundred women throughout history who have made significant contributions to society and civilization. Women portrayed include Ruby Bridges, Queen Elizabeth, Marie Curie, Jane Austen, and dozens of others. The piece, which has been on display at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, has drawn positive acclaim from visitors and press alike.
Several BYU professors, students, and volunteers contributed to the artwork, attending one of three workshops that Haworth and collage artist Liberty Blake supervised at the BYU Museum of Art, with the finished stencils later being incorporated them into the larger artwork. Two new panels created during the BYU workshops will be on display for the first time as part of Work in Progress at the BYU Museum of Art.
