2018 marks our 30th year anniversary! To celebrate, we’re presenting a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition conceived by Ken Simons, an Art Handler who has worked at Tate Liverpool since we opened in 1988.
Having installed thousands of artworks in his time, Exploring the Unseen is a display of Ken’s personal favourites, each considering the mysterious spaces in our world. It includes Tate collection highlights by Mark Rothko, Joseph Mallord William Turner and Barbara Hepworth, alongside artists who had their first UK showing at Tate Liverpool. Now, as he prepares to retire, the Art Handler steps in to the spotlight.
This is an amazing opportunity to display some of my favourite works from the Tate’s collections after so many years getting to know the works personally. It is through this hands-on interaction and curating this show that I learnt and understood much more about artists’ exploration of space.
