We are pleased to announce our first solo exhibition with the young painter Alex Feuersteins Ins Blaue. Feuerstein (*1981 in Heidelberg, based in Karlsruhe, Germany) graduated as a master student at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe, Germany in the class of Prof. Erwin Gross.
Feuersteins paintings show snapshots of profane, daily scenes and vague memories that – ripped out of their usual context – bear a certain absurdity. The depicted compositions, abstracted moments oscillating between fiction and reality, are kept open to interpretation and are distorted just up to that point where they cannot clearly be classified, neither locally nor temporarily: Is the scene outside the window showing an interior or exterior view? Is it the sun shining there – or is it the moon?
Weirdly bended, human bodies merge seamlessly to soft, organic forms which at the same time fuse with their surrounding – through the interdependence of subjects and objects, Feuerstein creates his very own floating rhythm of a visual vocabulary offering us numerous personal possibilities for interpretation.
Simultaneously to our solo show Ins Blaue we will be presenting a curated selection of paintings, photographies, sculptures and a video-installation by Mwangi Hutter until September 2017 in our temporary showroom. Mwangi Hutter will be joining this year’s documenta 14 and 57th Venice Biennale amongst others.
