Patrick Parrish Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new hand-built ceramic vessels by Brooklyn artist Cody Hoyt.
In Mad Maps, Hoyt charts out his own process of discovery and making, in which pattern counters chaos, and each elaborate stoneware vessel is the relic of a particular experience. Amid the fundamentally volatile medium of ceramics, Hoyt pursues order and meaning through geometric empiricism.
Cody Hoyt began working with ceramics as a way to experiment with depth in his paintings. He now creates large, intricately-patterned stoneware vessels using his own hand-building and inlay techniques. Hoyt received his B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art in 2007. His work has been shown in New York Magazine, Dwell, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, American Craft, Interview Magazine, Wallpaper, Juxtapoz, and the New York Times Magazine. Mad Maps is Cody Hoyt’s third solo exhibition with Patrick Parrish Gallery. He lives and works in Brooklyn.
