Bau-Xi is thrilled to present Mountains, a feature exhibition of new work by Chris Temple, displayed in conjunction with Love the North. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art, Temple has been capturing the complexity and sublimity of landscapes—both urban and untouched—for over 30 years. The artist’s fascination with this subject has prompted explorations all over North America and Europe in search of structural inspiration, poetic plays of light, and the otherwise overlooked snapshots of experience.

This latest series of mountain landscapes expresses the uncanny beauty of remote locations, and honours the mountainous landscape as a repository for quiet contemplation. Temple’s technically precise paintings render his scenes both strong and delicate, familiar yet mysterious, and always reverent of the contemporary landscape as an endless sources of visual interest.

Chris Temple has exhibited extensively across Canada, and is featured in prominent collections of institutions such as the Art Gallery of Mississauga, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Price Waterhouse Toronto, the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, and the Canada Council Art Bank.
