In December 2015 Jonathan Cooper Park Walk Gallery will be holding a solo show of over 20 new paintings by Melissa Launay. Three key works in this exhibition will be sold in support of Survival International, the global movement for tribal peoples’ rights, and will feature in the charity’s Christmas cards for 2015 (available from www.survivalinternational.org/shop)

Exploring the themes of mystery and imagination, curiosity and wonder, this new series of paintings focuses on the internal and external spaces of the English house and garden, from the cosy world of the potting shed to the ordered lawns of the stately home. Inspired by a visit to the V&A’s Museum of Childhood, Melissa Launay invites us into the magical rooms of the doll’s house, and to imagine just what occurs when the lights are turned out. Filled with narrative potential, this exhibition will be a fascinating journey through the landscape of the mind.

Melissa Launay lives and works in London. She achieved an MA in Fine Art from the University of Seville and has illustrated several books for British and American publishers. Alongside her illustrative work, Launay has also painted many murals for the charity Kids Company, run by Camila Batmanghelidjh.
