Artist duo The Connor Brothers are back with an inaugural show at Hang-Up Gallery that presents new works from their Pulp Fiction series alongside an installation documenting their ongoing work in The Jungle refugee camp in Calais.

In August, Hackney based artists Mike Snelle and James Golding visited ‘The Jungle’ and witnessed first hand the appalling conditions faced by the people living there. They subsequently sold an edition of prints in collaboration with Hang-Up Gallery to raise money to provide aid for the people in ‘The Jungle’. The funds were used to build shelters when they returned in October.

At their new show in November they will be releasing a third limited edition charity print in conjunction with Hang-Up Gallery to raise further funds to build additional shelters when they return to The Jungle with Pussy Riot in December. Mike Snelle of The Connor Brothers explains, “The situation facing those in Calais is dire, and much more help is needed as the camp grows in size daily and living conditions deteriorate with the onset of winter. With this in mind we have applied to the Charity Commission to form an NGO which will prove aid to refugees in Europe, as well as aid and advice to those who have made it to the UK. The organisation will fill the gap left by the major NGO's in unofficial but tolerated camps like 'The Jungle'. We are delighted to announce that our friends and collaborators Pussy Riot have agreed to be the organisation's Inaugural Ambassadors, and are grateful to the team at Hang-Up Gallery for the continued support of our work in Calais.”

The new show, entitled ‘So It Goes…’ features work from the artist’s notorious Pulp Fiction series, which explores the porous boundary between truth and fiction. The duo have created an exclusive collection of original hand painted Pulp Fiction paperbacks, original canvas works and hand painted limited editions that reflect their interest in how our understanding of the world is formed by the narratives we tell about it.

The Connor Brothers exhibition ‘So It Goes…’ is on at Hang-Up Gallery, 81 Stoke Newington Road, London N16 8AD from 13 Nov - 6 Dec, with the Private View Launch on the evening of the 12 Nov, from 6 - 9 pm.

Nadya Tolokonnikova from Pussy Riot will fly over from Russia for the launch of the show and give a brief talk about the refugee crisis and her collaboration with The Connor Brothers in the Calais Jungle.
