“A Taste of Art...Rooms” a collective exhibition to commemorate the first edition of Artrooms2015 and to learn about the next edition of this new fair which promises to showcase talented emerging artists from all over the world.
From the 7th August till 1st October 2015, 10 artists selected as the most representatives by Art Curator Miguel Mallol, will be on display at Le Dame Art Gallery at Meliá White House, the same venue where Artrooms takes place, every year at the end of January.
Ten international artists such as mysterious Pato Bosich painting, enigmatic Jean Luc Almond’s portrait and Maarteen van den Bos special textures, passing through the tribal Nataniel Moiane’s representation, the last Joe Reddy´s shoot in the heart of South Africa, the spicy and provocative Lichena Bertinato’s research and the voyeuristic Kevin Vucic’s photography. Sculpture by Lorenzo Belenguer and his capacity to give other dimension to povera materials, Rosa Migliardi and her harmonic installation finishing with the acid Kevin Dagg satire assembly.
About the artists:
Jean Luc Almond: British artist based in London, winner of the Big Prize from Cass Art and short-listed for the NOA Exhibition in 2014. He realizes half abstracted, otherworldly portraits that are thick with brushstrokes and abstracted colours.
Lorenzo Belenguer: Highly influenced by Minimalism and Arte Povera, Belenguer was one of the two performers invited by Leah Capaldi to perform ‘Hung’ at the Serpentine Gallery. Tate Liverpool as part of the Keywords project. ‘No Soul for Sale’ at the Tate Modern. This year, Belenguer has exhibited alongside 56th Venice Biennale.
Lichena Bertinato: Italian artist based in London. Her visual approach refers to the segment of contemporary photography known as staged or tableau-photography creating suggestive scenarios for imaging stories tied between realism and fantasy.
Pato Bosich: Originally from Chile, left for Europe in 1997. Lived in Basel and Southern Germany where he developed further in drawing and painting, working in the atelier Dodekaeter under guidance of Dennis Emmelin. In 2007 he was invited to produce work for the MSSA in Chile and he has also exhibited in New York City with Porter Contemporary and in Barcelona with Jano Arts. Travelled and worked throughout Germany, Eastern and Central Europe, finally settling in London in 2000. He has recently exhibited in in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Kevin Dagg: He has participated in numerous exhibitions and residencies both in the UK and abroad and won several prestigious awards for his sculptures including a major bursary from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York. He currently lives in Edinburgh and tutors part-time at Edinburgh College of Art.
Rosa Migliardi: Italian artist based in London. Studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art, London, England, 2007-2010 She is regularly exhibiting and selling paintings and sculptures on commissions in: Holland, Brazil, Hong Kong, Prague, USA, London and Italy.
Nataniel Moiane: Mozambican artist based in London. He started his artistic career in 1997 in Maputo. He believes that the people and the facets of life that he sees, feels and experiences are his foremost sources of inspiration. His paintings were exhibited in many countries in Africa, Europe and Asia. In 2000 he won the Descoberta art prize and in 2008 the Musart and Fundac art prizes in Mozambique.
Joe Reddy: Award winning fine art photographer, currently in his final year on the BA Photography course at University Of The Arts London. After winning the John Downton award at the age of 17, his work was shortlisted for the Royal Academy young artist online summer exhibition. He then went on to win the Piran Strange award, and the Young Photographer’s award at NOA.
Maarten van den Bos: Dutch artist based in London. His paintings evoke the modernist expressive way of handling material, however being a contemporary artist he is reinventing the possibilities of this language. Shortlisted at Bloomberg New Contemporaries in 2012 and 2013 and at Ron Mandos Young Blood Award.
Kevin Vucic: Kevin studied Architecure first at Central London Polytechnic and then at The Architectural Association School Of Architecture. After graduating he entered the emerging field of digital special effects. He lives and works in London
