Buckingham Palace, Tate Modern, Highgate Cemetery, Big Ben and other famous landmarks - as well as London’s many secret places and spaces - have inspired one hundred illustrators to produce a collection of illuminating snapshots of London Life.

The works which reflect the capital’s distinct personality and characteristics will be on display at London Transport Museum in Covent Garden from 15 May to 6 September 2015.

Visitors to the Prize for Illustration: London Places and Spaces exhibition at London Transport Museum will be taken on a visual journey across London with images which range from the contemplative to the crowded and loud, imaginary or real and from the past to the present – all places that form part of this amazing city.

All one hundred works were chosen from over one thousand entries by an expert panel of judges from the art and design world for the prestigious annual Prize for Illustration organised by London Transport Museum in partnership with the Association of Illustrators (AOI). Each of the illustrations are accompanied by a short description by the artist outlining the inspiration behind their creation.

The annual competition is open to illustrators and students of illustration throughout the world. This year’s theme is London Places and Spaces. The winning design will be announced in May and reproduced as a poster for display on London Underground.

The Prize for Illustration: London Places and Spaces is at London Transport Museum, Covent Garden Piazza, WC2E 7BB. Tickets cost £16.00 (£13.50 concessions) and allow unlimited daytime entry to the Museum galleries and temporary exhibitions for a whole year.
