Pino Pipoli “shows up” in Milano. Marsèlleria permanent exhibition hosts a solo show through which the artist chose to offer over 30 years of activity meanwhile fleeing the idea of retrospective. It’s rather the self-portrait show of an artist who observes us and inevitably mutates, constantly.
The exhibition, an artist’s self-portrait that observes us and inevitably mutates, is conceived as "organism in evolution": during the period of the show Pino Pipoli will inhabit the spaces of Marsèlleria, transformed for the occasion in a laboratory subject to constant interventions of addition, subtraction and alteration.
On display, on the three floors of Marsèlleria, are works created specifically for the occasion and for the location, together with a series of recent and less recent works which travel through key topics and figures for the artist’s research and which fill up a “marvel chamber” in becoming, in reverse through the past.
Painting, installation, video, sound, performance, merge into an intimate environment, where social context and collectivity are explored and spied maintaining an impalpable balance between stern irony and dramatic visions.
Pino Pipoli is born in Bari, has lived many years in Germany, and now lives and works in Milano. After various collaborations and special projects with Marsèll this is his first solo show for Marsèlleria.
