Galerie Rolando Anselmi is pleased to present Energy Saving, the second solo exhibition in its space by Andreas Zingerle. In this occasion the artist will present an installation composed by a series of concrete sculptures realized between 2006 and 2013 and presented for the first time together in Berlin. They depict everyday objects such as shoes, t-shirts, lamps or item of clothing that the artist manipulates and reshapes, working in the boundary between abstraction and representation. Zingerle freezes in its white cement casts, images linked to the current dominant issues of energy saving and scarcity of resources. He leads to a rethinking on the consumption and production of everyday objects, without ever giving up a tip of artistic-ironic detachment.

Starting point is the typical U-shaped tube of the basic saving energy lamp's extremity, which we find again in the hybridization of some of these otherwise familiar objects. Zingerle sculptural qualities are reflected in the tactile surface of these absurd objects, which despite the severity of the composition and the formal accuracy that characterize his works, they do not renounce to stage an essential uncertainty, a distance that makes them accessible through the multifaceted language of art. The main interest of Zingerle resides in the iconography of everyday life. His aim is to overcome the anesthetizing process of social structures bringing the viewer back to the purity of its representation. In that sense, instead of highlighting the insignificance and pettiness of the objects of daily use, he succeeds in giving them an artistic dignity back. His work focuses on the double and parallel nature of reality, redefining it with simple and clear notions. The physicality of his sculptures appears in dramatic contrast with the flowing and flexible materials of the original objects, underlining the paradoxical tension between presence and absence, the duplicity of original and copy.

Andreas Zingerle, born in Bressanone, Italy in 1963 currently lives and works in Perca. From 1993 to 1999 he studied at the Accademy of Fine Arts in Munich with professor Hans Baschang. After graduating in 2000 he became assistant at the Accademy in 2002. From 1998 he exhibited in Italy and Germany, in private galleries and public spaces such as, Galerie Alfred Knecht in Karlsruhe in 1998, Stadtische Galerie in Neuburg am Donau in 2000, Galerie Prisma in Bozen in 2001 and 2011, Haus der Kunstler Munich in 2007, Galerie Goethe in Bozen in 2009. Special note should be made of his live performance with five concrete mixers at the Transart Festival in 2007 and the two exhibitions at the Pasinger Fabrik in Munich in 2006 and 2009. In 2009 was presented his solo exhibition La Forma Interiore at Delloro Contemporary Art in Rome, curated by Gianluca Ranzi, also presented in 2010 on the occasion of the 6th Berlin Biennale at Lucas Carrieri Art Gallery in Berlin. Recent solo exhibitions include Squeeze at Galerie Rolando Anselmi, Berlin and Siehst du was, was ich nicht sehe? at StadtGalerie, Brixen in 2012. In 2013 he participated to the fourth Trienala Ladina of contemporary art curated by Alfredo Camerotti and received the Richard Agreiter Prize for Sculpture.
