Central Saint Martins is pleased to announce Strangelove - an ambitious college wide moving image festival devised and programmed in collaboration with artist Terry Smith (workinprogress) and curator David Gryn (Artprojx).

Using spaces throughout the Kings Cross campus the festival programme will include screenings, installations, talks, workshops, events and symposia to generate cross disciplinary discussions and draw attention to the way moving image has become an inescapable part of our everyday experience.

The festival will celebrate the diversity of moving image practice and explore the relationship between art, fashion, communication design, drama, performance and popular culture featuring the work of students through to prominent and established international artists, designers, directors, screen writers and performers.

19 events, as well as the exhibition of German Film Posters in the Lethaby Gallery, will be open to the public, allowing a glimpse into the fascinating and innovative world of moving image at Central Saint Martins.

Throughout the Festival there will be an information desk within the Crossing which is situated at the front of the Granary Building.

For The Dark: Tony Grisoni (Talk)

Includes a unique staging of an excerpt from, Dream Home, a new screenplay by Tony Grisoni, whose credits include Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, The Red Riding Trilogy and Southcliffe.

Behind The Scenes: a Filmmaking Workshop with Michael Bray

An all day workshop on the realities of the relationships that come together in the making of a film. Director Michael Bray will work with a team of actors creating original scenes generated by ideas taken from the audience.

Clothes On The Move: What’s Behind The Production of Fashion Films? (Symposium)

Panel, headed by Marketa Uhlirova of Fashion in Film, includes Lernert & Sander, a Dutch artistic duo who create concept-driven art films and installations.

Mark Lewis: Talk

Mark Lewis, Co-founder and co-Director of Afterall, will present and discuss his recent film projects made in both Sao Paolo and Paris. Previously exhibited at the 31st Sao Paulo Biennale 2014, they are currently in solo exhibitions at the Musee Louvre and the Contemporary Art Centre Le Bal.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with live score performed by Matt Harding

This 1920 horror film is a classic of the German Expressionism movement. Harding has created a score that reflects the surprisingly modern aesthetic of this silent movie.

Hany: Screening and Q&A with Michael Samir

2014 film by director and CSM alumnus, Michael Samir.
Filmed in one continuous shot, Hany takes place during a single evening in and around a bar in the middle of a big city.
