The Doorway Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition by Geraldine O'Reilly Hynes called ‘After the Rain' on Thursday, March 5th between 6-8pm on 24 South Frederick Street. The exhibition will run until March 26th.
After the rain is an exhibition of recent work by Geraldine O’Reilly Hynes encompassing her observations on nature, the confluence of elements, how the earth embraces water in manifold ways.
Most significantly she seeks to express in images, the poetic exuberance of this embrace. We see the lush green and rustic textures of water logged woodlands. The rush of water over earth, rock and sand. The dappled and reflective sparkle of light on moving water. The power of the sea on rock and shore, falling water cascading down the side of mountains into valleys, or the still, mirror like reflections of sentinel trees.
In this body of work there would appear to be a dialogue between earth and water. The stoical earth and the mercurial water seem to dance with each other like partners in the dance of life. Sometimes peaceful, quiet and gentle, other times dramatic and volatile. The dance of life goes on after the rain and this body of work captures its moods eloquently.
