Sung-ah Jun
Sung-ah work evolves from simple initial curiosity. Questions derive from everyday incidents. Big questions branch out into smaller and deeper questions. By making art, she discover and learn about her and her surroundings.
Her work carries various forms of art such as photography, drawing, painting, installation, sculpture, and silk screening.
Besides other media, exploring in digital media became her recent practice. She believes that experimenting the unlimited potential is an augmentation. Memory, space, and time are in the centre of her work. They are the conditions that allow her to explore own genealogy of creativity and ideas.
Mi-kyung Kim
She started photography to keep people's stories and nature's wisdom beside herself. Whilst she was acting as a free-lance photo journalist and a performance photographer, She went all the way to England and started to take photos of a much more wider world.
Seung-yoon Choi
‘What if there is a beginning where is an end, how may does it look like?’
Seung-yoon always start painting from that question. He makes the opposite of one thing for balance and make another the opposite of it because making opposite bring out of unbalance. This process is repeated to make a huge story and he is among there.
BDO
He sees everything as a metaphor of the world. Verbalize his world through the creation of symbol, character and pattern.
Think about subjects through symbols, patterns and characters, and express through painting, print and computer graphic. Now work toward creating character QUESTION to the world of adult children which is familiar but poisoning because he is willing to express the instinct of human in his way.
Sangkwon Lee
South Korea based artist Sangkwon states: “Late night, he stand on the road to go back home from my studio. People without any facial expression are crossing the road and walking down the alleys of houses. And then they disappear from my sight like exiting a stage. All the houses are made of dark red bricks. There is no difference, only a slightly different design and a slightly different colour.
There are huge apartments behind these squeezed red brick houses. So predictable, there’s nothing new on houses, streets and people. I wanted to draw this kind of scenery, which looks familiar, well-known and anybody can recognize. Sharing emotions about small experiences is the inspiration of my work.”
Sangsik Hong
Sang-sik Hong uses the fragile material of drinking straws to create objects which comment on the material world.
Strong objects such as chairs are created out of the weak material of straws creating a ‘visual paradox’, which questions the nature of power. Hong employs universal symbols of desire such as lips, high-heels and flowers, to express the unconscious intentions and interests of the artist.
Sang-sik Hong states, “If you rub a section of the straw, the straw uses out of the other side, creating all kinds of shapes because of the undulations. This childhood play wa the beginning of my work.”
