'One of the most compelling modern artists working today’ - Haute Living

In the new series Darlene & Me, Norwegian photographer Anja Niemi inhabits a house in the California desert, in which she explores the fictional character Darlene. Niemi continues to function as the photographer, subject and director of her images, aiming as always for absolute control. The images portray two women photographed together in displays of conflict or simply in each others' company, whether in agony or comfort. The two are, of course, one and the same person telling the story of a woman's complex relationship with herself.

This is Anja's third exhibition with The Little Black Gallery and she is now one of the galleries most popular and successful photographers worldwide. Following the success of her previous two exhibitions Starlets and Do Not Disturb, The Little Black Gallery is now delighted, with the support of the Norwegian Embassy, to showcase Anja's latest series Darlene & Me.

Born in Norway in 1976, Anja Niemi studied at London College of Printing and Parsons School of Design in Paris and New York. She has exhibited widely in both Europe and USA with her previous series ‘Do Not Disturb’, 'Starlets', ‘Portrait of the Invisible’ and ‘Porcelain’.
