AFA of SoHo opens a solo exhibition of 15 original works on board and 2 new limited edition prints by Nicoletta Ceccoli, entitled Sweet & Low. The show will be on view from November 14th – December 2nd. The opening reception is on November 15th, from 6pm - 8pm and is free and open to the public. RSVP requested.
Nicoletta’s Lovely Lolitas wade through the collateral damage of broken relationships and the absurdities that arise when trying to mend them. They are frozen in a dreamscape, and though the thought of escaping tugs gently at their sub-conscious minds, their hopes of escaping are overwhelmed by the ease of being controlled.
Ceccoli’s soft color palate and delicate brushwork allow the dark and damaged to be sublime. Complex and uncomfortable emotions are portrayed within harmonious compositions, where they are intricately examined with a tenderness and beauty that both entice and sadden the viewer.
Nicoletta Ceccoli was born in San Marino, Italy and graduated from the Institute of Art in Urbino where she went to classes in the ducal palace, and studied animation cinema. She has illustrated many children’s books, primarily in Italy, the USA and the UK. The artist has shown her work in prestigious collections throughout the world.
