The ROI Annual Exhibition is a showcase for many of the finest practitioners of the Art of Oil Painting today.
President Ian Cryer says: "The ROI was founded in 1882 like many of our Art institutions as a way of resisting the perceived stranglehold of the Royal Academy. In many ways this purpose is still relevant, as the RA has moved away from figurative painting of late and many of us don’t believe it is currently worth getting out of our un-made beds to enter! There is a consistency in the values of the ROI, the pursuit of excellence in oils, but in the widest range of expressive styles; from the loud to the softly spoken, all get a hearing at the ROI."
It also gives a taste of things to come in the form of work shown by up and coming artists including celebrating and recognising fresh talent emerging through the Winsor & Newton Young Artists Award. The First Prize is £1,000 worth of Winsor & Newton Fine Art Materials.
You will find something for all tastes and budgets, from abstraction to photo-realism. You may buy with confidence in the knowledge that work in the show has been selected by a panel of some of the most experienced artists working today.
All works are for sale.
Every reader of WSI Magazine who mentions the publication to the Gallery Desk will gain free entry.
