Flowers Gallery is delighted to announce that the 40th Anniversary edition of the annual Small is Beautiful exhibition will take place in New York this year. This is the first time that the entire exhibition has been held outside of the United Kingdom. Small is Beautiful, which has been held at Flowers Gallery’s London locations since 1974, challenges contemporary artists working in all media to produce works with a fixed economy of scale, each piece measuring approximately 9 x 7 inches.
On display will be over 140 works by an international roster of gallery artists and invited guests, including Geoff Chadsey, Malerie Marder, Shen Wei, Nadav Kander, Aleah Chapin, Polly Borland, Patrick Hughes, Sooyeon Hong, Spencer Tunick, Phillip Thomas and Sarah Anne Johnson.
As in previous years, Flowers Gallery gives a great opportunity for young, unrepresented or neglected artists a chance to shine alongside more established or famous artists. I bought my first and still treasured work of art from the 1st edition in 1974. - Matthew Flowers
