The Clement Art Gallery, Located in Historic Troy, NY is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition - "The Space Between" - Works by Tony Iadicicco & Jillian Platt opening on Friday September 26.
A reception with the artists will also take place that evening from 6-9pm. The exhibition runs through October 29.
Jillian Platt
Early chalk drawings were the first indications of Jillian’s need for artistic expression. Exposed to fine art at an early age and encouraged by surroundings and teachers her talents were solidified at Boston University School of Fine Art.
Jillian wove art and science together in the field of medical art, adding a Master’s of Science in Medical Illustration to her Bachelor’s of Fine Art. Her work garnered awards both in and out of the courtroom and operating theatres. She has explained to college students, attorneys and surgeons the cellular work of the body, the mechanisms of destruction and the steps of repair. Expressions in abstract and realism gently pull the viewer in allowing them private entrance into the artist world. Underlying perceptions and profound realizations of softness, emotionality and solitude reach out for the viewer’s participation.
Jillian’s abstract work has been twice commended as runner up in Creative Quarterly where it has communicated the joy of fun and imagination in the objects of our world.
Tony Iadicicco
Tony Iadicicco has been a central, dynamic part of the Capital Region arts community for over half a decade. As Artist, Executive Director of Albany Center Gallery, Board Member for the Albany Barn, community volunteer, and now blogger. Every day, he works to connect people with the arts and promote the creative development of our next generation of leaders.
"I paint to create beauty, working with colors to display movement, emotion, and balance. Painting, for me, is a release that allows me to share my experiences and perspective with others - it's my deepest and most satisfying form of expression.
Awards most recently include being named the 2014 Norman S. Rice Arts, Culture and Education Award, one of "Tomorrow’s Masters Today" by the Albany Institute of History & Art and Arts Ambassador volunteer of the year award from The Stakeholders Inc. and 2013, 2011 Best Local Artist by Capital Region Living Magazine. In June of 2010, Tony held an art event to support kids art and music education in schools. This was important because it showed how art and music influences life’s, and how funding these programs should not be cut. This event was to raise money to start the “Artist to Artist” scholarship fund, which will be given to a local high school senior that wishes to continue their education in the arts at a college level.
He's created art for the City of Albany, the Downtown Albany BID, Rosenblum Companies, Tech Valley Communications, Wine & Dine for the Arts, The Rep, Northeast Parent & Child Society, Make A Wish Foundation, Assembly Member Patricia Fahey, American Heart Association, Best Buddies, Bombers, and more. Iadicicco strongly believe in giving back and helping others find their passion. He's been fortunate to be able to work with not only many amazing non-profits and local businesses but also the youth at Brighter Choice Charter School, Kids Art Fairs and the Empire State Plaza Art Collection K-8 Exhibit as well as college students at HVCC, Sage, Saint Rose, and University at Albany. "I truly believe the creative class can change the world, and I’m proud to be part of that movement."
