The John Pence Gallery will present the work of nearly 50 artists in an epic exhibition of Drawings. Drawings are at once the heartbeat, the bones, the musculature, and the soul of art. Drawings constitute a unique language for each artist, separate and distinct. This show will feature more than one hundred drawings by nearly 50 artists from across the country and beyond. A huge collection of diverse subject matter and styles.
The show will run from August 14 - September 27th. The reception for the artists will take place from 6:00 to 8:00pm. on August 14th. All are welcome to attend.
The accompanying invitation sets forth the impressive roster of artists who will be on view. They range in age from 23 to 83. They have studios throughout the United States and overseas. The exhibition will feature works from the small and intimate, to the large and ambitious. The drawings feature people and figures, still lifes, landscapes, interiors, and florals. The list of artists in the exhibition read’s like a “who’s who” in some cases and a “who’s that” for the many newcomers we have found.
Master painters Sherrie McGraw and David Leffel will be making their first appearances in San Francisco. Many of the artists are still in school, and many have become teachers and inspirations for the younger generation in their pursuit of re-establishing the classical realist movement, a vital lynchpin in the international art scene. More and more the 21st Century is becoming known as the Age of American Art.
Works will continue to arrive from distant points right up to the opening of the exhibition. If you are unable to attend the opening reception, or visit the show in person, please be advised that you will be able to view the entire exhibition, once it has opened.
